Scot Laing

Scot has 20 years experience working in the UK and Channel Islands financial services industries and his main skills are investment portfolio construction/management, and he retains a keen interest in global macroeconomics.  

Scot trained in the private client division of Deloitte & Touche before coming to Jersey in 1999, when he joined HSBC as an investment adviser. He was appointed Head of Rest of World desk in 2000 where he was responsible for a portfolio of high net worth individual clients. In 2004 he joined Ansbacher, a boutique private bank, as Head of Investment and assumed responsibility for monitoring investment portfolios held within trust structures as well as managing the in-house investment strategies. In 2006 he was posted to Qatar where he established the first private bank within the newly formed Qatar Financial Centre and was tasked with developing institutional and UHNW private client relationships. He returned to Jersey in 2008 and has continued developing corporate and UHNW relationships in the UK and Channel Islands - most recently with Santander Corporate Banking Jersey.

In 2010, Scot was appointed to the Committee of Management of the States of Jersey Public Employees Contributory Retirement Scheme and is also a voting member of the Investment Sub-Committee.

Scot's educational qualifications include: BA (Hons) Business Law and Finance, Financial Planning Certificate , Investment Management Certificate, and CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management (level 6). He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and holds the Chartered Wealth Manager designation.

Scot was appointed to the Board of Rossborough Financial in May 2015.
