Group Critical Illness Cover

Group Critical Illness Cover is an insurance that pays a lump sum on diagnosis of any one of a range of serious medical conditions listed in the policy wording.

Benefits are payable once only and are paid to the Employer to pass on to the affected member of staff.

This is not a replacement for long term income protection but can help to ease the financial burdens at a time when the Employee is coping with the diagnosis of a serious and possibly life threatening condition.

A typical sum assured for a Group Critical Illness plan would be 1 years salary but lower or higher sums assured can be considered.

If an Employer provides this cover for Employees then cover is usually cheaper than if arranged on an individual basis and if all staff are included in a scheme then the insurers will offer an underwriting limit below which medical history does not need to be disclosed.

Any Group Critical Illness Cover accepted without medical underwriting will have pre-existing conditions or related conditions prior to the joining date excluded from cover.
